ExpenseBox is a neat, cost-effective solution to your expenses problems. Think of it as a smart, organised version of the shoe-box under your bed.

If you are a self employed freelancer or contractor do you groan when it's time for your tax return, and dread hunting for the battered shoe-box of receipts?

You're not alone. We've been working with contractors for over 11 years, so we understand both the benefits and pitfalls of self-employment, including the wasted time finding and sorting though receipts—time that should be spent earning money.

Here's how ExpenseBox works

You send us your receipts whenever you like, using reply-paid labels we provide to you. Then we do the rest:

• We scan all your receipts so you have an electronic copy available at any time for tax returns and/or bookkeeping

• We catalogue all your receipts into the categories of expenses recognised by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)

• In time for your annual tax return we return all your original receipts to you, catalogued, and with a report

• You only need to send the report to your accountant or direct to HMRC. If they ever ask to look at individual receipts, they are easy to locate

• We retain scanned copies of your receipts securely—just in case—so you can be assured that you will never lose your receipts

• Every time you send us a batch of receipts we charge £10 plus VAT this includes processing up to 80 items – additional items are charged at 20p per item. For example, a receipt containing petrol and a sandwich, which are categorised differently and separately, counts as two items.

How do you benefit?

COST. If you use an accountant, they should reduce their fees because the work of sorting and cataloguing your expenses is already done. If they don't offer a reduction, we have negotiated preferential rates with a local accountant for those using our ExpenseBox service

CLARITY. We categorise your expenses at the same time as we catalogue them, so you (and HMRC) know exactly what's what

CONVENIENCE. Scanning, sorting and batching all your receipts is a massive task. With ExpenseBox you just send them to us using our pre-paid labels and we do the rest

ASSURANCE. Faulty goods and returns? Need to make an insurance claim? How many times have you failed to find the receipt when a product under warranty goes wrong ? Now we can just email you a scanned copy—it's easy

SPACE. Reclaim your home—clear out the clutter and let us take care of it all

SECURITY. ExpenseBox is a Gabem service, so you can be sure you're in safe hands. We have 11 years experience of holding thousands of people's personal details, so we keep your receipts confidentially in secure storage and have them all backed-up electronically.

Once you decide to use the service, you can start quickly. If you have a Gabem reference number we simply check that we have your correct address, then send you your FREEPOST labels. If you're new to Gabem, we'll take your details and then allocate a number to you before sending your labels. Then you're up and running.
