Welcome to the umbrella company section. For those of you that have never encountered a contractor umbrella company before, I recommend reading our "What is an umbrella company?" section below. For those of you already in the know, you can skip ahead to the things you need to know about our umbrella company payroll.

What is an umbrella company?

An umbrella company is an alternative to being paid PAYE by your client or agency and is equally safe and compliant. You become an employee of the umbrella company and receive all the statutory rights that go with it. In addition working through an umbrella company, you can claim expenses that you incur whilst going about your work. This in turn should improve your take home pay

Umbrella companies fall outside the IR35 legislation (despite being frequently referred to as an IR35 umbrella company or IR35 umbrella companies). They also fall outside the 2007 Managed Service Companies (MSC) legislation, so they are a safe way to be paid.

That's it in a nutshell really. You are an employee, you have full statutory employment rights, you can claim your business expenses against your tax and NI, and you can relax as by definition an umbrella company is outside IR35 and the MSC rules.

Here's what you can expect from our umbrella company payroll, starting with the cost:

Our charge is an extremely competitive £22 per week, it's taken before tax so could cost you as little as £11.31 from your bottom line
Our accident insurance is compulsory, but comes in at just £2.50 per week. If you already have a policy with equivalent cover we won't include you in ours and you won't be charged

These are the only charges you'll see through our umbrella company, no hidden costs, what you see is what you get. We use the same day Faster Payments system as standard, but if CHAPS is needed we'll send it that way for no extra charge. We are able to do this because of the extremely low rate we've negotiated with our bank.

You will be an employee of our Gabem Management and be entitled to your full statutory rights
You will retain the independence that you may have come familiar with as a contractor in the UK
You get comprehensive Employers Liability, Public Liability and Professional Indemnity insurance cover (further details of which you can read about here)
You get access to a pension scheme and can benefit from the NI savings that come from using it
We will raise all your invoices, process your payroll and chase any payment you're owed where necessary
We will deduct PAYE and your NIC and send them to HMRC so your tax situation is always up to date
Whenever a payment is made we'll send you a free text message to let you know what's being sent through
Your payment will arrive the day it is sent by close of business
We will process your expense forms and receipts each week or month, whichever is best for you
We will produce and send out all your end of year documents
We will do our best to ensure that you are working through the safest most compliant contractor umbrella company in the industry
